Canada_Day7_Quebec City

* Wonderful site for Old Quebec City.

The third day at Montreal, we decided to visit Quebec City which is about 3 hour drive, north of Montreal. The Old Quebec City is close to the bay on the hill. I was happy that we came to visit. It's worth the 5-6 hour drive for both ways.

We got to Quebec City early afternoon. It's an overcast day. Very windy!

We parked on the top of the hill and headed out to take a look!

This is the city wall alone the old Quebec City. It has a wide walking path with lawn which allows visitors to walk and look the city.

We are looking at the bay from the top of the hill. The chateau in front of us is Fairmont, Le Château Frontenac.

View of Fairmont, Le Château Frontenac and old town village.

View of partial bay. Very classic European look.

It's so windy at the top of the hill and Remy kept being restless. He wanted to get down and run!

View of the bay!!

This is Saint Lawrence River!

Village shops and restaurants. We will be there later of the day!

There's a ferry!

We are on the deck; a promenade area. Remy was running around and having fun. He had been sitting for 3 hours inside the car!

Cannons!

From this point, you can take the cable car to go down to the lower village. Or you can take the stairs to go up and down.

Side view of the Fairmont, Le Château Frontenac.

Courtyard view of the Fairmont, Le Château Frontenac.

The city hall. There are parkings under the city hall.

It's hard to believe that in a country as young as Canada, Quebec City is gearing up for its four hundredth birthday in Y2008. Its earliest history can be traced back to France and Jacques Cartier’s exploration of the St. Lawrence River in the sixteenth century.

Information Centre at the corner of Sainte-Anne. The red building.

Upper town street view!

A cheese store near the harbor shopping area. Ira insisted to find this place due to it listed in his national geographic magazine tour guide!! We walked all the way down to the bottom of the hill and finally found it!

We got to climb up! God, I am too tired and starving to climb!

Lower town. We were heading to Petit-Champlain the lower town, at water's edge.

I was so hungry. So I bitched all the way while we were climbing up. Kai must felt like to kill me because he wanted to take us to eat at the Petit Champlain area, which located at the middle of the hill. It took us more than 30 minutes to climb up and get there!

We are getting close to the destination for dinner!! There's a musician playing music on the street. Wonderful music but I was very starving!

Nice view of the center lower town.

Finally we got to the lower town, the Petit Champlain area. Did you see the cable car at far away to take people up to the upper town?

We were finally here! God, I can eat the whole cow!

Street view. Quiet Charming.

We took this photo after meal. This was why I had the big smile on my face!

This was the restaurant for dinner. The saute rabbit restaurant. I was too hungry to read the signs and did not know they cook rabbit till the waiter introduced their specialty to me.

View of the opposite shop.

View of the other restaurant on the opposite side.

Lot's rabbit signs!

We sat here, outdoor for dinner. So nice and relax! I felt I was in Europe!

God, I need to climb this up to get to the car!

Back to the top, upper village finally!

Let's head out!

We climbed to the city wall in the front to see another side of the Old Quebec City.

The New Quebec City is outside of the wall.

Lots of Cannons on the top of the city wall to protect the inner city!

Ira and Remy were on the way to the garage!

The following photos were for some street signs. I had hard time to understand what they said.

Tuilip garden in front of the City Hall. I took those photos while waiting for Ira to park the car in the early afternoon.
