Canada_Day6_Old Montréal

Remy had his breakfast before we went out. The photo was taken in our room looking out at
Palais des Congrès de Montréal building. It's a very fun, modern and colorful building. Our room was on 9th floor facing the Montréal downtown.

Montréal's China Town is nearby. We decided to walk to check it out and have brunch there.

Montreal China Town is a very busy area. Lots of people getting groceries or looking for restaurants to eat. It's very close to financial area, too.

My main dish!

Our goal for today is to go to Old Town area and check out the Notre Dame in Montreal. Which is the building you see on lot of travel magazines and tour books. After lunch, we walked out from China Town and walked towards harbor area.

Here is the old town area. Lots of 4-5 story high old buildings mix with new tall commercial buildings. Lots of souvenir shops in those old buildings.

Starbucks is inside this old building. Very special!

We saw part of the Montreal Notre Dame.

It was surrounded by lots of banks you can think about.

It's a very beautiful landmark at night. With special light effects.

Construction again!!!

We passed Montreal Notre Dame and head to Old montreal Town.

Most of the roads are covered by cobble stone. Very hard to push the stroller around.

We stopped for some gelato ice cream!! We've been walking for more than 2 hours.

Lots of cool restaurants here!

Jardin Nelson is the restaurant for our dinner. The knocked down entire inside structure and make it into an outdoor garden, jazz restaurant. They only save the wall.

Marche Bonsecours has lots of gallery type of stores. Fun to go check it out.

I love the cloth they put outside of the scaffolding structure. They printed the actual building images on the cloth or canvas so you can picture what this building is going to look like under the construction.

I love this restaurant building. An expensive one!

Back to outside of Palais des Congrès de Montréal building. We've been walking for 5 hours today!

Canada_Day5_Quartier Latin, Montréal

We drove to Montréal from Ottawa on Monday morning, May 3. We picked up Kai on the way. It's about 2 hour drive. We checked in Winston, Montréal and unloaded all luggage as soon as we arrived. Kai was our tour guide and he took us to travel by subway without thinking about parking.

Our goal for today was to have fun at Latin Quartier. We had our lunch at a local restaurant on St. Denis around 3:30. We were all STARVING!!! The foods were good and we enjoyed a lot. I loved how they place the food on the plate. Very artistic, and no wonder people called Montréal the second Paris in Northern America.

I ordered the ham and asparagus omelet. Not greasy with light seasoning. I can taste each ingredient.

Ira's sandwich. He said those Fries are among the best Fries he ever had.

I found this fruit on my plat. It tastes like passion fruit mixes with tomato.

Shops and restaurants alone two sides of the main street.

It's a very nice day. Everyone enjoyed the beautiful sun. I also like to appreciate the building architect. They are so unique and interesting to look at!

Families joy the nice sunshine in the Park!

This is UQAM (Université du Québec à Montréal) area. Lots of bookstore and fun restaurants! Very busy area. I did not see any sign of recession in Canada.

Lots of nice churches were converted into Public libraries. The maintain the main frame and redid the entire inside.

Sainte-Catherine is the busy busy commercial shopping area. You can find all the international brands on this street!

Lots of constructions all over the place due to spring just arrived. It snows half of the year in Montréal.

I love to see the roofs of buildings. Lots of different styles!

Nice residential areas. Very quiet and friendly neighborhood. I would move to this town if the weather is like California.

Canada_Day4_Chelsea, QC

I was sick so we decided to go slow and have a relax day. Kai took us to see his new house and also looked around outside Ottawa. We visited Gatineau and Chelsea which are in north of Ottawa. They are all in Quebec Provence which is a French speaking area.

Today is a very warm day. While I was at the real Canadian SuperStore to get my cold medicines. Ira and Remy were playing on the lawn outside.

A family own restaurant opposite side of Kai's new house. I ordered a fish and chip dish. It's very good!

Kai's new house. It's on 2 acre land! Current owners are still living inside.

A very beautiful lake near where Kai's new house. Several nice gift shops and restaurants are alone the lake. We stopped at a French Cafe to have some desserts. They have great great desserts you do not want to miss. Most people speak French here.
